Job Description
Improving basic preventive health care at community level with emphasis on reproductive health, immunization ,primary health care, and, when necessary, nutrition services
Plan MCH and ANC activities alongside the WHB and implement activities in collaboration with MoH health workers particularly health extension workers
Conduct assessments and evaluation of health, ANC, RH and MCH activities
Ensure adequate communication and collaboration with the woreda health bureau on all health, nutrition, ANC, RH and MCH activities that Merlin undertakes in the Woreda and promoting the WHB full participation in such activities
In emergency contexts, support Woreda and other Nutrition service providers to in OTP, SFP and SC activities as necessary and requested
Throughout the project implementation, work with and ensure transfer of capacity to HEW in each health posts of target woredas.
Ensure that the mobile team provides quality nutrition and general preventive healthcare services to children and mothers in accordance to the MoH and WHO standards.
Assist HEWs in the planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative healthcare issues in the community.
Participate in WrHO-organized health and nutrition activities as needed (e.g. immunization).
Health education: The health and nutrition nurse will take the lead in educating the parents and other care-givers on proper nutrition and child care.
The H&;N nurse is responsible for supporting HEW to do a monthly inventory of all stocks: drugs, medical supplies, general supplies, and stationary at the . The H&N nurse supports HEW in keeping track of expiration dates of all supplies and ensures their prompt use or transfer of said supplies to prevent any waste of supplies.
Represent Merlin in meetings with the WHB and with community members
Responsible for supervision of maternal and child health activities at Merlin-supported MoH health posts in the Woreda of operation
Ensure regular data reporting to Merlin's Supervisor
Participate in the organization and delivery of trainings on PHC to health extension workers and health worker in the Woreda.
Participate in the organization and conduct of nutritional studies and surveys in the woreda.
Any other relevant responsibility as may be assigned by the line manager which is in agreement with Merlin program aim including change of duty station by Merlin management

Job Requirements
Essential Requirements
At least College Diploma in Nursing with valid registration/practicing license.
At least three years post qualification experience in the field Experienced in nutrition and health program implementation –data collection and compilation, working with counterpart for lasting intervention.
Interest in and ability to work in team. .
Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.
Good written and spoken ability of the Afan Oromo language is mandatory.

Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Under the technical guidance of the CBNC advisor in Save the children Country Office and Hawassa Field Office manager at field office level, the position holder will be responsible for coordinating the Community Based Newborn Care (CBNC) and Saving Newborn Lives (SNL-3) activities of Save the Children in SNNPR including the Operations Research (OR). S/he will be responsible to provide technical and logistics support in the overall implementation of CBNC project and strengthening of Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM) project, which contributes to the reduction of Neonatal Mortality Rate/under five mortality by introducing community Based Newborn care in Gurage and Sidama zone, SNNPR. She/he is expected to coordinate the project including building the overall capacity of and working closely with Regional Health Bureau (RHB), to participate in the development of the work plan and to provide guidance and support to staff in meeting project objectives. She/he is also expected to provide timely activity report and gather information, document and communicate project achievements and lessons learned and best practices. The job holder is expected to perform external coordination and presentation including building strong partnership, working closely with RHB and representing SC at all relevant levels of networking and meetings.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED The applicants, to be considered for the post, should have Masters in Public Health or MSC in Nursing with at least five years of relevant work experience in MNCH of which at least three are within the NGO environment. She/he should also have proven ability to analyse data, write reports and work in team. She/he should be trained on Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses (IMNCI)/ ICCM case management, be familiar with the national IMNCI/ICCM program implementation with experience in organizing and facilitating trainings. She/he should demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, experience in working with multicultural team and complex projects. She/he should have an ability to work in multi-task environment and under pressure. In addition, she/he should be willing to travel outside of Hawassa as necessary and be committed to Save the Children values. Computer literacy in all Microsoft Office Application and Internet is mandatory.
