Pepsi-Cola Company, September 2001 to August 2003 Designer & Developer
Contracted to produce a Microsoft Pocket PC based PDA application for PepsiCo's field auditors to collect inventory, POS, out of stock, sales, promotions, marketing and competitor information from supermarkets and C&G stores. Hired and managed a team of technologists to analyze, design and recommend a solution to PepsiCo. Successfully delivered and deployed an integrated system that used an Oracle database as the central repository for data collected from the users through the synchronization of their PDA and their PC. Used BRIO to produce management reports. MS Embedded Visual Basic/MS Outlook OLE/BRIO.
Separately, developed a generic application with field level mapping capability for the purpose of validating, auditing and reporting discrepancies between two data reporting agencies.

Oversaw the full life-cycle software development process and created the software foundation of the Operations department. Created a data warehouse in Oracle 7.3.4 and later converted to Oracle 8i to take advantage of the data warehousing and other new technologies in Oracle 8i to increase efficiency and performance. Using global temporary tables, views, stored procedures and dynamic SQL including in-line functions, devised a sophisticated new scheme to model 5 year/24 hour power usage forecasts on the fly and aggregated that information into new data structures called proxies to be used by a risk analysis system. Wrote parameter-driven dynamic PL/SQL procedures to handle evolving pricing structures. Used ERwin for data modeling. Used Oracle Discoverer to setup queries and reports for power users.
Created an ASP/HTML application for the Sales and Marketing departments to facilitate the input of customers' data and their specific load, discount and deal information. Also created a Visual Basic application for the operations department complete with interfaces to various other internal and external systems to obtain tariff, generic pricing and load forecasting template information for the purpose of purchasing energy from the Power Exchange (PX) through a B2B e-commerce web site. The system produces the daily power schedule for the entire portfolio per geographical zone that was then transmitted automatically to the Independent System Operator (ISO) through their web site. These applications in conjunction with stored procedures in the Oracle database, utilize a series of complicated calculations to create risk analysis information. The GUI allows any combination of user-specified criteria to create and export risk related information to other tools for manipulation and decision-making purposes. The system prepares the proxy transactions created within the database and feeds the data automatically into a commercial portfolio risk management system called Openlink™. The Visual Basic product uses Sheridan libraries, Crystal Reports, incorporates ADO calls and ODBC connections to communicate with other systems. XML and EDI documents are parsed and created to and from other sources. Live price feeds provided by TIBCO.
Installed, maintained and supported a SQL server based third-party software product named ETRM™. Modified and added functionality to the product's Access based GUI. Created various Access & Crystal reports from the SQL server database.
